District
District Cricket has been an integral and important part of cricket in Cambridgeshire for several years. Players are assessed against a common template and then offered a structured coaching programme. This is followed by very successful competitive development games between local authority areas within the County, as well as District teams from adjacent counties. These matches are scheduled to take place over the May bank holiday; during the summer half term week; on Sundays in the second half of term; and in the early part of the summer holidays. The programme provides an opportunity to begin the journey along the player pathway, with the possibility eventually to play County representative cricket.
Assessments for the District squads will be held at under 13 (including under 12), and under 15 (including under 14) during the autumn half-term week (Monday 25 October to Wednesday 27 October). In these age groups, squads will continue to be formed for each of the local authority Districts within the County (i.e. Cambridge City; East Cambridgeshire; Fenland; South Cambridgeshire). At under 11 (including under 10) there will be a joint trial to form three squads: a Cambridgeshire Young Cricketers U11 “A” squad; a Cambridgeshire District U11 “B” squad (which may include U10s); a Cambridgeshire Young Cricketers U10 squad.
